Mrs. Gier
Grade 5 Teacher
My educational/professional background:
I have been teaching for over 21 years. I have taught traditional, gifted, and highly-gifted students in both public and private school settings. I have experience teaching second, fourth, fifth, and sixth grades. In addition to having a California teaching credential, I hold a bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from National University and a degree in Design and Architecture. I have written two books and produced a number of short films with my husband.
I choose to teach at Clairbourn because:
The parents are supportive of the educational process and of the teachers. Clairbourn's community of compassionate teachers and involved parents is unlike any other school I have taught at.
My favorite Clairbourn tradition is:
Engineering Week is one of my favorite traditions because it enables the students to think outside of the box, challenge themselves, and have a lot of fun while learning.
What brings me joy is:
I find joy when my students don't want to stop working on a project because they are so invested in it. Outside of the classroom, my joy comes from spending time going on walks or bike rides with my dog, Bailey, baking, and traveling with my husband.
