Mrs. Rosemary Kiertzner is our music teacher with nearly three decades of teaching experience. Mrs. Kiertzner has a teaching credential and a Master of Music degree, a Bachelor of Arts degree in Drama, accompanied by a Bachelor of Art degree in Music, as well as an Associates of Arts degree in Music.
Mrs. Kiertzner also has ten years of experience as a high school band director and close to 20 years experience as a JPK through eighth grade music teacher at Clairbourn. She has been a professional trombonist since she was seventeen, playing in classical, jazz, and opera pit orchestra performances.
She has served as the director of drum and bugle corps, marching bands, jazz and concert bands, children’s choirs, and orchestras. Her college and university bands, where she directed and conducted, participated in numerous North American concert tours. Currently, Mrs. Kiertzner is responsible for teaching Clairbourn’s music classes, as well as directing our bands, orchestra, instrumental concerts, talent shows, and finally, the Spring and Christmas Programs.
In order to stay current in learning advancements, Mrs. Kiertzner frequently attends conferences and workshops like Responsive Classroom and the American Orff-Schulwerk Association, in addition to attending online webinars specializing in educational technology. In order to keep her students engaged, Mrs. Kiertzner says she “...implements the use of SmartBoard and computer-based interactive programs that engage students in learning about musical concepts, perceptive listening, musical terminology, and musical concepts, while gaining exposure and familiarity with the musical compositions of Mozart, Tchaikovsky, and Vivaldi."
